Facial cleansing is one of the most complete procedures for maintaining the health and appearance of the skin — recommended for all skin types and at any time of year. It goes far beyond removing blackheads: it promotes cell renewal, regulates oiliness, reduces the chance of acne and inflammation, and prepares the skin to better absorb other treatments and skincare products.

At Dra. Chris Marchetti Clinic, the protocol includes removing impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oiliness, with steps such as exfoliation, extraction, high-frequency application (which has an antiseptic action and helps close pores), and a final mask suited to your skin type — drying for oily skin, or nourishing/soothing for dry and sensitive skin.

We offer two options, which can be recommended based on your needs: manual facial cleansing, the traditional method suited to most cases, and hydrosuction cleansing, which uses a vacuum device with water to extract impurities more gently — a great option for sensitive skin or skin prone to redness.

Recommended frequency: to keep results and skin health in check, it's best to repeat the cleansing every 4 to 6 weeks. Oily or acne-prone skin benefits from a monthly frequency; normal to dry skin can be spaced out to every 2 to 3 months. This interval respects the skin's natural cell renewal cycle, avoiding dryness or sensitivity from excessive procedures.

It is a safe procedure with no significant contraindications, but patients with active skin lesions (such as an active herpes outbreak or recent sunburn) should wait until healed before the session — something that is always assessed before the appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Manual Facial Cleansing
Facial cleansing is performed using specific cleansers, exfoliants, and emollients, followed by blackhead extraction, removal of dead skin cells and impurities, high-frequency application, a drying or nourishing mask, and sunscreen.
  • Hydrosuction Facial Cleansing
Hydrosuction facial cleansing is an innovative procedure that uses a hydrosuction device to extract blackheads and remove dead skin cells and impurities, in addition to applying specific cleansers, exfoliants, emollients, high-frequency treatment, a drying or nourishing mask, and sunscreen.
  • How often should I get a facial cleansing?
It is recommended every 4 to 6 weeks. Oily or acne-prone skin can benefit from a monthly frequency; normal to dry skin can be spaced out to every 2 to 3 months.
  • Does facial cleansing hurt?
The extraction step may cause brief, mild discomfort, but the procedure as a whole is well tolerated. The high-frequency treatment and final mask help soothe the skin immediately after the session.
  • Can I wear makeup or go out in the sun afterward?
It is recommended to avoid makeup for a few hours and to strictly use sunscreen in the following days, as the skin becomes more sensitive and receptive after extraction and exfoliation.
